Mount Blum (or Mount Bald ) is a 7,685 ft (2,342 m) high mountain in the North Cascades , Washington State on the western border of North Cascades National Park . It is the highest peak in a chain east of Mount Shuksan and west of the Picket Range . There are two small active glaciers on its northern flank. Mount Blum is named after John Blum, a United States Forest Service fire watch pilot who crashed near it in 1931.

Six small glacier-fed cirque lakes, the Blum Lakes, occupy the basins arranged one behind the other on the southeast side of the mountain. Several other ice surfaces are distributed across the basins and basins on Mount Blum and the neighboring peaks. The Blum Creek , a creek named after the mountain, drains the north and west sides of Mount Blum and flows into the Baker River , which in turn flows into the Skagit River . The Baker Lake Reservoir, one of a series of reservoirs that dam the lower Baker River, touches Mount Blum at its northeasternmost branch. Lonesome Creek and Scramble Creek drain the valleys east and north of Mount Blum, respectively. Steep cliffs and slopes in the valleys create some extremely high waterfalls like the 1,680 ft (512 m) tall Blum Basin Falls .

Skiing is a popular sport on the slopes of Mount Blum. Regardless of the popularity of the sport, Mount Blum is surrounded by pathless wilderness, except on the south side where a ridge connects it to Mount Hagan.

Mount Blum is made of extremely hard granite. This intrusion is common throughout the mountain range; it is much stronger than the loose rock that makes up Mount Shuksan and the Picket Range.
