The Baker Lake is a reservoir in the northern part of the State of Washington . The lake is in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and in the Baker River Valley southwest of the North Cascades National Park ; it is fed by the Baker River and many smaller tributaries. The lake is about 16 km north of Concrete .

The lake has an area of ​​19 square kilometers and contains around 320 million m³ of water. The water level fluctuates annually by an average of around twelve meters. The formerly smaller body of water was enlarged in connection with the construction of the Upper Baker Dam in 1959 and the water level was raised by around 95 m. The dam is a concrete gravity dam and contains a hydroelectric power station with an output of 91 megawatts .

Baker Lake is a popular recreational destination for anglers, campers and boaters from neighboring Whatcom and Skagit Counties . In the area around Baker Lake is also the Swift Creek Campground with 55 private places for tents or mobile homes, two group places as well as a slipway and a marina. The campground is halfway up Mt.Baker on the lake across from Park Creek. Previously it was known as Baker Lake Resort and Tarr's Resort. It is entirely within the Mount Baker National Recreation Area .
