Mount Geissel is a 1420 m high mountain in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . In the Independence Hills of the Heritage Range in the Ellsworth Mountains, it rises 5 km south of Mount Simmons .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1966 after Robert H. Geissel (* 1940), a geomagnetic and seismologist from the United States Antarctic Program on the US Plateau Station in 1966.
