Mount Gist is a 1529 m high mountain in Queen Marie Land in East Antarctica . It rises 13 km northwest of Mount Strathcona near the head end of the Denman Glacier .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used to map it. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1955 after Lieutenant Francis John Gist (1921-1989) of the United States Navy , co-pilot and navigator on the reconnaissance flights during Operation Highjump between the 14th and 164th degrees east latitude.
