Mount Hanson is a 800 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . In the Harold Byrd Mountains, it rises 1.5 km southeast of Supporting Party Mountain .
The geological team around Laurence McKinley Gould (1896-1995) discovered him in December 1929 during the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930). Expedition leader Richard Evelyn Byrd named him after Malcolm Parker Hanson (1894-1942), chief radio engineer on this research trip and pioneer in the development of radio equipment for communication in polar regions.
