Mount Janus is a 2420 m high and forked mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Bowers Mountains it rises on the northern flank of the head end of the Montigny Glacier .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him at the suggestion of geologist Roger A. Cooper, head of a team that had carried out surveys in the area as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program between 1981 and 1982. The allegorical name is named after the god Janus with a double face from Roman mythology.
