Mount Koob is a 1601 m high mountain on the Dufek coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Maud Mountains it rises as the highest point of the Mayer Crags 6 km northwest of Mount Ferguson .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1966 after the American biologist Derry D. Koob (* 1933), who was active in two successive Antarctic summer campaigns between 1964 and 1966 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program at McMurdo Station .
