At around 1450 m, Mount McArthur is the highest mountain in the Walton Mountains on the West Antarctic Alexander I Island .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1977 after Malcolm McArthur (* 1947), geophysicist of the British Antarctic Survey on Stonington Island from 1971 to 1973, who was also active in the north of Alexander I Island during this time.
