Mount McCarthy is a 1,860 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It is the easternmost mountain of the Porthos Range in the Prince Charles Mountains .
A team of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions , led by the Australian mountaineer William Gordon Bewsher (1924–2012), visited him in December 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named him after James William Parker McCarthy (1919–1994), chief meteorologist and deputy head of Mawson Station in 1956.
