Mount McKelvey is a rocky, mainly ice-free and 2090 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . In the eastern part of the Thiel Mountains, it rises 1.5 km east of Mount Walcott .
A team of the United States Geological Survey explored it between 1960 and 1961. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1978 after the American geologist Vincent Ellis McKelvey (1916–1987), ninth director of the survey from 1971 to 1978, under his leadership numerous geological and topographical undertakings have been carried out in Antarctica .
