Mount Mende is an approximately 1500 m high nunatak in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 800 m southwest of Mount Lanzerotti in the Sky-Hi-Nunatakkern .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1987 after the American physicist Stephen B. Mende (* 1939) from the Lockheed Research Laboratory in Palo Alto , who was a senior atmospheric researcher at the Siple Station and the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station from 1973 .
