Mount Nelson is a 1930  m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . In the Queen Maud Mountains, it rises 5 km northeast of Mount Pulitzer on the western flank of the Scott Glacier .

It was discovered in December 1934 by the geological team around Quin Blackburn (1900-1981) on the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) of the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1967 after Randy L. Nelson, who carried out satellite geodetic surveys at McMurdo Station in the Antarctic winter of 1965 .
