Mount Obruchev ( Russian Гора Обручева Gora Obrutschewa , German 'Obrutschew-Berg' ) is a mountain in the East Antarctic Georg V country . It rises 25 km east-southeast of the Scar Bluffs at the base of the Mawson Peninsula .
Participants in a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped and named it in 1958. It is named after the Soviet geologist Vladimir Afanassjewitsch Obruchev (1863–1956). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1967.
