Mount Powell is a 2195 m high and distinctive mountain in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . It rises in a small massif with King Peak in the eastern section of the Thiel Mountains .
Peter Bermel and Arthur B. Ford , who jointly led an expedition of the United States Geological Survey from 1960 to 1961 in the Thiel Mountains, named him after John Wesley Powell (1834-1902), second director of the survey from 1881 to 1894.
