Mount Spinx ( French Mont Sphinx ) is a 2285 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is the highest point of the Prince de Ligne Mountains and rises 15 km north of the Belgica Mountains .
Participants of the Belgian Antarctic Expedition in 1957/58 under the direction of Gaston de Gerlache de Gomery discovered him. De Gerlache named him after his figure, which is reminiscent of a sphinx . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the name into English in 1965.
