Mount Staley is a 2560 m high mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Freyberg Mountains it rises at the southern end of the Salamander Range .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1969 after James Trotter Staley (* 1938), a biologist at Hallett Station from 1962 until 1963.
