The Mount Steele is a 1050  m high mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Wilson Hills it rises 7 km east-northeast of Stevenson Bluff on the watershed between the Suwurow and Manna glaciers .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Carlett D. Steele (1924–1990), senior aircraft mechanic in the Navy - VX-6 air squadron, which served as a crew member on board helicopters in several campaigns of Operation Deep Freeze between 1957 and 1968 and supervised their maintenance .
