Mount Tararua is a striking and 2550 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises in the southwestern part of the Monteath Hills in the Victory Mountains .
The southern group of the New Zealand Federal Mountain Club Antarctic Expedition (1962-1963) climbed the mountain on January 3, 1963 and made the naming. It is named after the Mountaineering Association Tararua Tramping Club of New Zealand's capital Wellington , which belonged to the members of the Southern Group.
