Altar of the chapel

The chapel "de Nossa Senhora dos Matos" dates from the 17th century. It was founded by a British noble family. Her altar has a tile mosaic showing four angels around the Madonna and a banner with the "Request for the intercession of Our Lady for the extinction of Protestant heresy in England".
