Mouriscas is a municipality ( freguesia ) in Portugal .
Mouriscas belongs to the Abrantes district in the Santarém district , has an area of 35 km² and a population of 1,832 (as of June 30, 2011). The place is located in the northern catchment area of the Tagus River .
Attractions
The chapel "de Nossa Senhora dos Matos" dates from the 17th century. It was founded by a British noble family. Her altar has a tile mosaic showing four angels around the Madonna and a banner with the "Request for the intercession of Our Lady for the extinction of Protestant heresy in England".
