Moylan James McDonnell (born August 27, 1889 in Stony Mountain , Manitoba , † January 22, 1969 in New York City , New York , USA ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played 22 games for the during his active career between 1909 and 1921, among other things Hamilton Tigers has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender .

Career

McDonnell was born in Stony Mountain in the Canadian province of Manitoba , but made a name for himself in the New York City area , where he played for the New York Crescents, New York Irish-Americans and the New York Hockey Club between 1909 and 1916. This time was only interrupted by a one-year engagement between 1911 and 1912 with the Edmonton Maritimers. Since 1916, McDonnell joined the Canadian Armed Forces and fought for his country in the First World War .

Upon his return in 1920, he was signed by the Hamilton Tigers of the National Hockey League in December of that year . There he played a total of 22 games in the course of the 1920/21 season , in which he got three scorer points . After the end of the season, McDonnell resigned from active sports. He then moved back to New York City with his wife, where he worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York until 1942 . He died there on January 22, 1969 at the age of 79.
