Mpinga Kasenda
Mpinga Kasenda (born August 20, 1937 in Tsilomba ; † May 7, 1994 ) was a Congolese politician and Prime Minister of Zaïre from 1977 to 1979 .
Political career
Kasenda studied law and became a professor .
He was a leading member of the unity party Mouvement Populaire de la Révolution (MPR) and was considered a loyal follower of the long-time authoritarian President Mobutu Sese Seko . On July 6, 1977 he was appointed Prime Minister by this. Mobutu had previously renounced a prime minister since 1966 and led the government himself. He resigned on December 7, 1977, but was confirmed in office by the president six days later. His term of office ended on March 6, 1979.
He was foreign minister from 1993 until his death in a plane crash .
