Muhammad III. (Granada)
Abu Abd Allah Muhammad Ben Muhammad , Arabic أبو عبد الله محمد بن محمد(* 1257 ; † 1314 ), nicknamedالمخلوع al-Makhlu ("the dethroned") was as Muhammad III. from 1302 to 1309 emir of Granada .
Muhammad III. came as the son of Muhammad II. al-Faqih (1273-1302) his successor in Granada . While the latter had to resist the dominance of the Merinids in Andalusia , Muhammad III tried. to expand the influence of the Nasrids in Morocco . In 1306 he occupied Ceuta , with which the emirate of Granada was able to strengthen its position on the Strait of Gibraltar and in northern Morocco. However, the Merinids of Morocco now allied themselves with Castile and Aragon . Because of this isolation of the empire, the discontent with Muhammad III. to. In 1309 he was deposed and replaced by his younger brother Nasr (1309-1314). Ceuta had already been lost to a popular uprising.
