Muhammad al-Khudari

Muhammad al-Chudari (( Arabic محمد الخضري, DMG Muḥammad al-Ḫuḍarī ), b. In 1872 in Cairo ; died 1927 in Cairo), also in the spelling al-Khodary a . a., was a conservative Egyptian Alim , scholar of Islamic law ( Sharia ), scholar of jurisprudence ( fiqh ) and author.

Live and act

Muhammad al-Chudari was born in 1872. He graduated from Dār al-ʿUlūm ( Arabic دار العلوم), worked as Qādī (šarʿī) in Chartum and taught at the madrasa for Sharia jurisdiction (مدرسة القضاء الشرعي/ Madrasat al-Qaḍāʾ aš-Šarʿī ), an Islamic school in Cairo . He became a professor of Islamic history at the Egyptian University ( al-Ǧāmiʿa al-Miṣrīya , now the University of Cairo).

He is the author of a biography of the Prophet Mohammed .

In his highly regarded and widely published standard work Tārīkh al-tashrīʻ al-Islāmi (تاريخ التشريع الإسلامي), a history of Islamic legislation, he divides the history of Islamic law in Sunni schools into six periods.

He died in 1927.
