The Mulkila (also Milang IV or M4 ) is a mountain in the western Himalayas in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh .

The 6517  m high mountain is located in Lahaul in the district of Lahaul and Spiti . It forms the highest point in a mountain range around which the two Chanab source rivers Bhaga and Chandra flow. On the northwest flank of the Mulkila, the Milang Glacier stretches with its western and eastern source glaciers.

On September 7, 1939, during the outbreak of World War II , the Mulkila was first climbed as part of an Austro-British expedition by Fritz Kolb , Ludwig Krenek and Robey Johnson. The ascent route led over the Milang Glacier.

The expedition, which also included Hilda Richmond, Frank Hollick and Donald Cumber, climbed other peaks in the Milang area. Its success as a project of international understanding was overshadowed by the death of Hilda Richmond and the subsequent internment of Kolb and Krenek.

The mountain is technically quite demanding, with rock climbing in brittle rock in the summit area. The best time to climb is between June and mid-October.
