The Multimedia University ( MMU ) is a private university based Malacca in the state of Malacca , Johor and in Cyberjaya , the Multimedia Super Corridor in the state of Selangor in Malaysia . The university was granted university status in 1996, making it the oldest private university in the country. The focus of education at the university is on information technology and multimedia .

history

In 1994 the Institute of Telecommunication and Information Technology was founded by Telekom Malaysia . The course began with 42 students. Two-year engineering courses were initially offered. In 1996 it was granted university status, making it the country's first private university. The aim with the campus in the Multimedia Super Corridor was to create a constellation similar to that between Stanford University and Silicon Valley . In 2014 the campus in Johor was opened.
