Marten Mendez
Augustin Marten Mendez (born August 28, 1916 - † August 25, 1994 ) was an American badminton player from San Diego .
Career
Marten Mendez was in 1949 with the American team in the Thomas Cup finals, but lost in the semifinals against the eventual winner Malaya. Three years later, the American men's team even made it to the finals, but lost there again to Malaya and became vice world champion. Marten Mendez won the open US championships in 1949, 1950 and 1952. He was inducted into the US Badminton Hall of Fame in 1967 and into the San Diego Breitbard Hall of Fame in 1981.
