Clinton Stephens

Clinton Paulson Stephens (born October 13, 1919 in New York City , † September 19, 1995 in Ruxton , Maryland ) was an American badminton player .

Life

Stephens studied at the City College of New York, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1938. From 1940 to 1946 he served in the US Army and reached the rank of major. Among other things, he spent almost three years in the Pacific and was awarded two bronze stars. In 1946 he came to Baltimore and married Patricia Anne "Patsey" Roberts there .

Together with his wife, Stephens won the open US championships in 1948. A year later they both won the prestigious All England .

Clint Stephens was in 1949 with the American team in the Thomas Cup finals, but lost in the semifinals to the eventual winner Malaya and thus took bronze at this world championship for men's teams.

After retiring from competitive sports, Stephens worked as an investment banker at Alex from 1950 until he retired in 1985 . Brown and Sons Inc. in Baltimore.
