The Mungo was a ship of the imperial governorate of the German colony of Cameroon and part of the governorate flotilla .

history

The ship was named after the Mungo River in Cameroon. It was a stern wheel steamer with a very shallow draft for the river waters of Cameroon.

Built in 1896, after being transferred to Cameroon in May 1897 , the Mungo was used by the colonial administration of Cameroon as an inspection and direction finding vehicle . Due to the bad riveting, the ship was not operational and had to be repaired until 1898. As a result, the shipyard in Rosslau was excluded from further shipbuilding contracts for the German government.

After the repair, the mongoose did its job as the governorate's vehicle. In 1911 the stern wheel steamer was still in use. His further fate is unknown.
