Murat Mola

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Murat Mola (* 1967 ) is a German professor and engineer of Turkish descent. His " numerical alloy development of a nickel - reduced duplex steel ", through which the latter manages with just one percent nickel instead of six and can therefore be manufactured many times more cost-effectively than comparable materials , received the 2005 ThyssenKrupp Material Innovation Award . Mola is a professor at the Institute for Mechanical Engineering / Materials Science at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences , Mülheim an der Ruhr campus .

Life

After graduating from secondary school, Mola completed an industrial training as a fitter. Through the second educational path , he obtained the mechanical engineering diploma ( technical college Iserlohn , focus on production technology and Ruhr University Bochum , focus on materials technology ). His dissertation, which he then wrote at the Institute for Materials at the Ruhr University in Bochum, received a summa cum laude .

Before Molas Innovation (later called RUB PhD candidate or Lean Duplex steel), the microstructure calculation programs for the production of duplex steels were not accurate. Mola examined these for his dissertation “with an extensive experimental numerical computer program. Then he was able to carry out specific optimization measures together with the program developers from the Royal Technical University of Stockholm. As a result, useful numerical predictions (could) be made for this material group for the first time ”(Dr. Josef König, Science Information Service).

The material, initially only designed on the computer, was tested ready for the market.

Mola published his doctoral thesis under the title Numerical Alloy Development of Nickel-Reduced Ferritic-Austenitic Duplex Steels in early 2005 as a paperback in the European University Press.
