Murraba basin

The Murraba Basin (English: Murraba Basin ) is a sedimentary basin in the Northern Territory of Australia .

In the sedimentary basin there are about 4 km thick rock layers that were formed in the Neoproterozoic 850 to 600 million years ago. The rocks in the basin are sandstone , conglomerate and a few deposits of dolomite and mudstone . The sedimentary basin is part of the Centralian Superbasin and extends to Western Australia . It partially overlaps the Aileron Province and is partially covered by the Canning Basin . It is connected to the Amadeus and Canning Basins in the lower units .

The Arafura Basin under this sedimentary basin carries oil .
