Murs (born March 16, 1978 in Los Angeles , California ; real name Nick Carter ) is an American rapper .
Career
Murs 'first single was released in 1993 and was a release of an album by the 3 Melancholy Gypsys , Murs' first group. She attracted the attention of some local independent - hip-hop fans. As a result, the 3 Melancholy Gypsys and Murs made friends with the Mystik Journeymen and finally joined their artist collective The Living Legends .
In the next seven years Murs could be heard on over 20 albums, EPs and singles. When his longtime friend El-P founded his record label Definitive Jux , he offered to publish his solo debut there. Although the work on it progressed very slowly through his work with his groups, his first album The End Of The Beginning was released in 2003 . His second album was a collaboration with producer 9th Wonder . Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition was released in 2004. The song Walk Like A Man included there served as inspiration for the film of the same name, in which Murs himself played. The accompanying soundtrack followed in 2005, before releasing Murray's Revenge in 2006 with 9th Wonder. In 2007 he switched to a major label for the first time , Warner Bros. Records . Murs for President was published there in 2008 , with guest contributions by Snoop Dogg and will.i.am, among others .
Together with the rapper Slug from Atmosphere , Murs forms the rap duo Felt. So far, three albums have been created under this name, each with a producer (The Grouch on Felt 1 , Ant on Felt 2 and Aesop Rock on Felt 3 ). All Felt albums were released through Rhymesayers Entertainment , the label of Atmosphere.
