Mussa Chiramanowitsch Manarow ( Russian Муса Хираманович Манаров , scientific transliteration Musa Chiramanovič Manarov ; born March  22, 1951 in Baku , Azerbaijani SSR , USSR ) is a former Soviet cosmonaut .

Manarow was selected for the cosmonaut squad on December 1, 1978. He flew into space as a flight engineer with Soyuz TM-4 and Soyuz TM-11 . He retired on July 23, 1992.

He was in space for a total of 541 days, a record that was only broken in November 1994 by Valeri Polyakov . Manarow is now number 8 on the list of space travelers with the longest stay in space.

In 2007 he was elected to the Duma , the Russian parliament.
