The music school of the city of Hilden is a public educational institution for children, young people and adults and is located in the culture and further education center " Altes Helmholtz " in Hilden. About 2000 students are taught by 70 teachers and lecturers at the music school founded on February 10, 1971.

The music school is known beyond Hilden through projects such as every child is an instrument as well as numerous district, state and national winners in youth music , which it has already organized itself for the Mettmann district. The ensembles of the music school also contribute to this, such as the symphony , symphonic wind or mandolin orchestras , which regularly give Christmas concerts in the Hilden town hall.

Partnerships exist since 1978 with the Warrington Youth Orchestra , the Knabenkapelle Nördlingen and the marching band TSG Bergedorf .

As part of the Fabry year 2010, the ballet comedy Der Bürger als Edelmann was produced in cooperation with the Young Dance Forum Hilden . Michael Seewald directed.
