action

Yū Nagami is an average high school student who plans to work as a light novel writer after graduation . He regularly sends in specially written works to newcomer competitions, but fails each time in the preselection. His younger sister Suzuka is the absolute opposite of him: she is an exceptional student in middle school. When one day she took part in a writing competition with her own work and won it, she asked her unsuccessful brother to pretend to be her because she didn't want to neglect her academic achievements. As the supposed winner, Yū takes part in the award ceremony of the competition under the pseudonym Towano Chikai, where he meets his future publisher Reika Shinozaki and the illustrator Ahegao Double Peace , who want to officially publish the work. Among the guests present is Yū's classmate Mai Himuro, who is also a very successful light novel writer.

As Yū and Suzuka try to uphold the lie, she gradually begins to develop feelings for her older brother.

criticism

The anime series has been panned by both anime lovers and anime critics due to the poor quality of the animations. Brian Ashcraft of Kotaku described the series as one of the most significant production disasters of 2018. The most likely reason for this was given by the Buyu studio's commitment to the key animations . Previously, the company had only animated the cutscenes and the credits. In addition, it was critically noted that mainly individual people are mentioned in the credits instead of naming the production companies.

One of the animators called himself in the credits in the credits 正直 困 太 Shōjiki Komata , which can be translated as " To be honest , I'm screwed ". This indicates that the animation team was also allowed to be aware of the criticism. Seven animation directors are listed in the endings, which suggests that the animation directors did not have the time to correct all errors in the animation.
