Michael Rose (also Mykal Rose or Mikal Roze , born July 11, 1957 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican reggae singer. He gained fame as the singer of the band Black Uhuru .

Career

Through his brother Joseph, Michael Rose met many reggae artists in his youth, including The Wailers , Gregory Isaacs , Big Youth , Sly & Robbie and Dennis Brown . Niney The Observer produced his first recordings. In the mid-1970s, Don Carlos left the band Black Uhuru. Michael Rose replaced him. He wrote many of the band's successful songs until he left the band in 1985 after the release of the album Anthem. He has since released several solo albums, which have also been successful in Europe and Japan , among others .

Since 2004 Michael Rose has been making music together with Duckie Simpson again under the name Black Uhuru. He is also still active as a solo artist.

In 2007 and 2008 he again drew attention to himself through songs on current dancehall riddims and collaboration with current dancehall artists ( Busy Signal , Jah Cure , Damian Marley ). He also produced the hit song Shoot Out on the Shoot Out Riddim.
