Mykola Wassylowytsch Bobrezkyj ( Ukrainian Микола Васильович Бобрецький , Russian Николай Васильевич Бобрецкий Nikolai Vasilyevich Bobrezki , born May 20, . Jul / 1. June  1843 greg. In Trojanka , Podolia Governorate , Russian Empire , † September 11 jul. / 24. September  1907 greg. in Kiev , Russian Empire) was a Ukrainian zoologist, professor and rector of St. Vladimir University in Kiev.

Life

Mykola Bobrezkyj was born as the son of the local priest in the village of Troyanka in what is now the Ukrainian Oblast of Kirovohrad . From 1862 to 1866 he studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences for Physics and Mathematics at St. Vladimir University in Kiev. In 1873 he became a doctor of zoology and from May 1876 taught at St. Vladimir University, from April 1877 as an associate professor. From October 1885 on he was a full professor in the Department of Zoology and between 1890 and 1902 he was Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. In 1901 he received the honorary title of "Honored Full Professor". Mykola Bobrezkyj was rector of St. Vladimir University in June 1902, succeeding Feodor Fortinski , and remained so until September 1905. Between 1898 and 1903 he was the chairman of the Kiev Society of Naturalists. He died in Kiev at the age of 64 and was buried in the Baikowe cemetery .
