Myriam Abel (* 15. May 1981 in La Grand-Combe , Gard as Myriam Abdelhamid ) is a French singer. She became known as the winner of the third season of the show Nouvelle Star .

Life

In her youth, Myriam Abel took part in various television programs and castings, including Je passe à la télé , la Rose d'Or d'Antibes , Graines de star and La Chance aux chansons .

In November 1999 she was selected by Disney to sing under the pseudonym Myriam Morea Quand elle m'aimait encore , the score for Toy Story 2 .

In 2005 she won the third season of Nouvelle Star, the French edition of Pop Idol . This gave her the opportunity to release an album on Sony BMG . However, after her victory it became known that she had already signed a record deal with Outcom Production . This contradicted the basic idea of the show, which is intended for non-professional singers, and at the same time prevented a quick release of a debut album after their victory.

In the end she brought out the single Donne at the end of 2005 , which was written by Lara Fabian and Jean-Félix Lalanne . Shortly afterwards it was withdrawn from the record company due to legal problems and later re-released. The album La vie devant toi , presented two months late, reached “only” number 9 in the album charts, which was below the expectations of Sony BMG. It was re-released in the summer of 2006 with the second single Baby Can I Hold You , a cover version by Tracy Chapman .

Donne eventually sold over 100,000 copies, but Baby Can I Hold You only achieved brief, mediocre success.
