Myrna Hansen
Myrna Hansen (born August 5, 1934 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress and beauty queen . She won the Miss USA title in 1953 and had a twenty year film career.
Life
Myrna Hansen grew up in her native Chicago and graduated from Carl Schurz High School in June 1953. Before participating in the Miss USA election, she wanted to study animal husbandry in Colorado and then work as a veterinarian. Instead, however, Hansen was voted Miss Photoflash of 1953 by the Chicago Press Photographers Association and took part in the Miss USA election that same year, which she won. In addition to a diamond-studded watch and a Hillman Minx convertible, she also received a film contract with Universal Studios .
As Miss USA, Hansen also took part in the 1953 Miss Universe election. However, the title won Christiane Martel from France . In August 1954 she received the promised contract with Universal. Hansen's first role after signing a contract followed in 1955 as spies in The Purple Mask . However, she had already taken on a few supporting roles in films.
Hansen gained fame primarily through her role as Tess Cassidy in the 1955 western With a steel-hard fist at the side of Kirk Douglas . In 1957 the actress took a break and traveled through the USA under a false name. During this time she worked as a waitress, receptionist and saleswoman, among other things. Then she returned to Hollywood.
In addition to her film career, Hansen also appeared in television series and shows. She made her television debut in December 1955 on The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show . Her television series appearances have included guest roles on Hawaiian Eye and 77 Sunset Strip . In 1973, Hansen ended her career as a supporting actress in The Godfather of Harlem .
Myrna Hansen has been married three times and has two children. She lives in Beverly Hills with her third husband .
