Northern Yan Empire

The Northern Yan Empire ( Chinese  北 燕 , Pinyin Bĕiyàn ; 407 or 409 - 436 ) was a state of the Han people during the Sixteen Empire Period in China .

All rulers of the Northern Yan Empire proclaimed themselves " emperors ".

1 Gao Yun's family name was changed to Murong when he was adopted by the Murong . If Gao Yun were to be one of the rulers of the Later Yan , the Northern Yan would begin in 409. Otherwise it begins in 407.
