New Japan Pro Wrestling ( Japanese 新 日本 プ ロ レ ス shin nihon puroresu ), ( NJPW ), is the name of a Japanese wrestling association . The doctorate was founded by Kanji Inoki in 1972 . Short name is New Japan .
history
In 1972 New Japan was founded by Kanji "Antonio" Inoki as part of the National Wrestling Alliance . Until 1989 there was direct competition with the All Japan promotion . Along with Pro Wrestling NOAH, New Japan is one of the largest Japanese wrestling associations.
Since 1999 the doctorate has been led by Tatsumi Fujinami as President and Masahiro Chono as Booker. New Japan has always maintained regular contacts with other countries. These included the National Wrestling Alliance and World Championship Wrestling as well as various European and Mexican promotions. Current partnerships exist primarily with Ring of Honor , Consejo de Mundial Lucha Libre and Revolution Pro Wrestling.
