Historic truck model

NZG-Modelle is a manufacturer based in Nuremberg and a German brand of construction machinery and commercial vehicle advertising models made of die-cast zinc . The company has existed since 1968.

From the end of the 1960s, the new product genre of zinc miniatures came onto the market for advertising purposes, mainly on a scale of 1:50. Manufacturers from the mechanical engineering and vehicle construction industries have miniature models of their products made for advertising purposes. These advertising materials are handed over at trade fairs and customer contacts. The company can calculate with a fixed minimum sales volume for such industrial orders. Since the mid-1990s, many industrial clients have viewed the sale of their brand's miniatures (often via special "web shops") as a systematic additional business that goes beyond the classic advertising function. In the 1970s and 1980s, the NZG models were also sold through local toy retailers; in the meantime, private sales are almost exclusively carried out through specialized (mail order) dealers and the above. Branded "web shops" of the contracting industry. At times, NZG also produced historical models for the collector's market without an industrial contract, but the company has now returned to the old business model of the pure advertising brand.

history

On October 1st, 1968 the two partners Betty Hauer and Gerhard Schmid founded the company. The first NZG model, the “ Weserhütte HW 70” excavator with item number 101, was manufactured there on the 3rd floor of a furniture store on Tafelfeldstrasse . At today's headquarters at Sigmundstrasse 147 in Nuremberg, the rooms were expanded to 3,000 m² in 1985. In addition to the administration, the site also housed the mold construction, paint shop, assembly and warehouse and shipping department. At peak times, over 400,000 models were manufactured there and delivered worldwide. Central production steps, especially the zinc die-casting itself, were always carried out by other companies for NZG, even in the days of German production.

In 1986 the daughters of the two founders, Inge Ludwig (née Schmid) and Hannelore Hauer, joined the company. This was followed by the takeover of company shares until the company founders Betty Hauer and Gerhard Schmid left. In 2000 Hannelore Hauer sold her company shares to the Ludwig family. Inge Ludwig and her husband Michael Ludwig, who has also been with the company since 1988, have been the sole managing partners of NZG-Modelle GmbH since mid-2000.

A number of NZG models, in particular certain types from the early 1970s, which were only produced in limited numbers, have since experienced a considerable increase in value and are the subject of interest in a relevant collector's market.

NZG today

The mold making and the entire production were outsourced to the Far East around 1999/2000, and most of the employees in Nuremberg were laid off. The main focus of the product range continues to be construction machinery and commercial vehicle models on a scale of 1:50. Since around 2005, NZG has been able to expand its business considerably so that the customers of its customers, i.
