A group of travelers are staying at an inn during a flood in a small river. The ronin Ihei Misawa wanders through Japan with his wife Tayo and is looking for a new man. He too has to seek refuge in the inn. There he is warmly welcomed and can even settle a dispute. He gets to know Lord Nagai who will be his new master.
