Nachscholim ( Hebrew נחשולים) is a kibbutz on the Carmel coast in northern Israel with 668 inhabitants (as of 2018). It was founded in 1948, immediately after the Israeli War of Independence , near the deserted Arab town of Tantura . Because of its location by the sea, tourism is an important source of income for the place.
The most striking building is the former glass factory of Baron Edmond de Rothschild , who had bottles made here for his winery in nearby Zichron Ja'akow . The building was soon abandoned and fell into disrepair. Today the remaining outer walls house a museum with finds from the Tel Dor archaeological site , which adjoins the kibbutz immediately to the north. Various items found by underwater archaeologists off the coast are also on display.
