Nadeschda Wassiljewna Kuschelnaja ( Russian: Надежда Васильевна Кужельная ; born November 6, 1962 in Alexejewskoje ) is a former Soviet - Russian cosmonaut who did not do space flights.

Life

Kuschelnaja attended secondary school No. 86 in Krivoy Rog with graduation in 1981 and then studied at the Dnepropetrovsk Engineering and Construction Institute . After completing the third year course, in 1984 she moved to the Moscow State Aviation Institute (MAI). There she completed her studies in flight dynamics and control in 1988.

On May 31, 1988, Kuschelnaja started to work in the space research and production network NPO Energija . She developed the project documentation and the program backup for the scientific equipment of the Mir space station .

After the end of the Soviet Union, NPO Energija became the space company RKK Energija. In 1993 Kuschelnaya presented himself to the Medical Commission of the Institute for Medical- Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences and received the approval of the Main Medical Commission for special training. On April 1, 1994 she was accepted into the cosmonaut troop of the RKK Energija. From the summer of 1994 to April 1996 she went through the cosmonaut training in the Yuri Gagarin cosmonaut training center, as did her colleague Mikhail Vladislavovich Tjurin , where she passed the cosmonaut examination.

This was followed by training for the Mir space station and, from October 1996 to July 1997, training for the international space station . She married her trainer Vladimir Morozov. Kuschelnaja was assigned to the crew of the first Russian Soyuz TM-32 expedition to the International Space Station together with Yuri Baturin as a flight engineer . Her further training was interrupted by her maternity leave from November 1998 to April 1999. Then she continued to train together with Talghat Mussabajew until May 2000 and from July 2000 together with Viktor Michailowitsch Afanassjew . Due to a reorganization in December 2000, she was no longer part of the main team in favor of the US space tourist Dennis Tito , who then flew to the International Space Station with Talghat Mussabaev and Yuri Mikhailovich Baturin .

In May 2001, Kuschelnaja was assigned as a flight engineer in the backup team of an expedition to the International Space Station. together with Sergei Viktorovich Saljotin . In October 2001 she came to Konstantin Mirowitsch Kosejew . -> On May 27, 2004, she was dismissed from the cosmonaut service on the instructions of the management of the Federal Kosmos Agency for being out of service.

Kuschelnaja graduated from the Ulyanovsk Aviation University in 2004 and has now become a co-pilot with Aeroflot . She flew on the Tupolev Tu-134 for five years and then on the Airbus A320 and the Airbus A330 .
