Nadifa Mohamed
Nadifa Mohamed (born 1981 in Hargeisa , Somalia ) is a Somali - British writer .
Life
When she was three years old, Nadifa Mohamed came to London with her family . What was intended as a temporary stay has become permanent due to the political circumstances in Somalia. The family settled in England, Mohamed studied politics and history in Oxford . Her first novel was published in 2009 and is based on biographical elements of her father. Black Mamba Boy received various awards such as: B. the Dylan Thomas Award , was on the longlist of the Orange Prize for Fiction and on the shortlist of the Guardian First Book Award .
The Orchard of Lost Souls , her second novel , was published in 2013 . With him Mohamed was one of the twenty "Best of Young British Novelists". In 2014 she represented Somalia at the Hay Festival in Wales . Nadifa Mohamed lives in London.
Mohamed draws the plot of her novels from the stories told by her parents. These sources and the empathy for their characters and their country create a well-worked text. With her second novel, Mohamed shows maturity and great abundance in her presentation. Her prose is characterized by strong lyrical elements.
