Nafar

The Nafar are a Turkish-speaking ethnic group in Iran ( Fars and Tehran provinces ). They are nomadic and live mainly in the southern Zagros Mountains . In 1932 , the Nafar counted 3,500 families in the official census .

history

The Nafar originated in Persia when the Oghuz tribes combined with parts of the Arabs and Lor . Their language belongs to the southern group of the Oghuss languages. The Nafar were long under the dominance of Kashgai and joined 1861 / 62 with the baharlu and others on the tribal federation of Khamseh together.

The Nafar are often equated with the Baharlu, since both tribes had common leaders for a long time.
