Nagtsho Lotsawa Tshälthrim Gyelwa ( Tib . : nag tsho lo tsA ba tshul khrims rgyal ba ; * 1011 ; † 1064 ), Nagtsho the translator ( nag mtsho lo tsa ba ), from Gungthang was a famous 11th century Tibetan translator and person who invited Atisha to Tibet , marking the period of the Later Dissemination of the Doctrine ( phyi dar ) - d. H. after the incision by the ruler Lang Darma - a time of the new translations of Buddhist texts from Sanskrit began.
Nagtsho Lotsawa had previously been to India. His departure took place in 1037. Atisha's invitation took place at the request of the Guge King and Buddhist monk Changchub Ö ( byang chub 'od ).
“Naktso Lotsawa traveled to India and studied with Atiśa. It seems that this previous experience of Naktso Lotsawa was the main reason he was summoned by Lhatsünpa and asked to go to India and invite Atiśa to Tibet, thus fulfilling the king Jangchup Ö's dying wish. Naktso Lotsawa was successful, and Atiśa agreed to make the journey to Tibet and spread the Dharma (Roerich, 245-6). "
