Naiche (* between 1856 and 1858; † 1919 in the Mescalero Reservation , New Mexico , USA) was a leader and chief of the Chokonen - Apaches (also known as Chiricahua -Apaches).

Naiche was the second son of Cochise . Naiche met Geronimo during his youth . He became Naiche's teacher because of his status as a medicine man . After the death of his father Cochise, Naiche's older brother Taza became chief. He died just two years later and the office passed to Naiche. In the 1880s, Naiche and his warriors joined Geronimo in the war against US forces.

Naiche and his three wives had 15 children. His first wife, Nadeyole, died on December 24, 1896, as a prisoner of war at Fort Sill , Oklahoma . The second wife was Eclah-eh , a relative of Geronimos, she also died in Fort Sill in 1909. The third and youngest woman was Ha-o-zinne , a daughter of Beshe and Ugohun . She died of a heart attack on the way to the Mescalero-Apache Reserve in 1913 .

After the end of the war in 1886 Naiche lived until 1913 as a " Prisoner Of War " in Florida , Alabama and in Fort Sill in Oklahoma. In 1919 he died in Mescalero - Reservation in New Mexico .
