Naildown is a Finnish band from Helsinki . They played under the name Acid Universe until 2005. The band can be compared to the music of Children of Bodom or Soilwork , with the exception that singer Daniel Freyberg mainly sings clearly.
history
Harri Heikkinen and Jarmo Puikkonen founded the band Acid Universe at Easter 2003. While looking for new band members, they came across singer Daniel Freyberg and bassist Matti Hämäläinen. After they recorded two demos together , they landed a record deal with the Finnish record label Spinefarm Records . In March 2005 their first single Eyes Wide Open was released , for which a music video was then shot. Half a year later, the debut album World Domination was released . Shortly thereafter, Harri Heikkinen left the band, who was replaced by Janne Jukarainen ( Shamrain , Hanging Garden ). On February 14, 2007 another single was released under the name Judgment Ride , which was only available on the Internet .
On March 14, 2007, the second album Dreamcrusher was released , which was voted album of the week on stalkermusic.com shortly afterwards. The band also played at the Tomahawk Festival in Osnabrück and started a European tour together with Ensiferum and Suidakra . In November 2007 it became known that keyboardist Jarmo Puikkonen had left the band because of small discrepancies with what the band is doing and has achieved. In spring 2008 the band announced that they were looking for a new keyboard player. In addition, they were nominated at the Finnish Metal Awards and signed a contract with the leading Finnish entertainment company King Foo Entertainment , which has metal bands such as Nightwish , Finntroll and Amorphis under contract.
In the summer of 2008, the band decided to take a “creative break” and fully concentrate on the third album. But in September of the same year Naildown and drummer Janne Jukarainen parted ways. Janne justified his departure from the band as follows:
“During the last summer shows, I noticed that what we are doing isn't really what I want, but I was waiting for the“ creative break ”to hear my feelings. But it was precisely during this time that I realized that I am no longer 100% one for and with Naildown. And for me it's 100% or not at all. So it's the only right thing for me to leave the band.
I would like to thank my friends Daniel, Asko and Matti for what may be the best moments in my life that I will ever have. We had some good moments that I will never forget.
It's over."
On August 11, 2009 the band announced that Heikki Saari ( Norther , Force Majeure , Tuoni ) is the new drummer for Naildown. A new keyboard player has still not been found at this point.
