Najarra Townsend
Najarra Townsend (born December 5, 1989 in Santa Barbara , California ) is an American actress .
Life and accomplishments
Townsend was at the age of three years as a model working for children's clothing. A year later she appeared for the first time at Showstoppers Children's Theater , in whose 25 plays she played. At the age of 14 she was tutored at the Los Angeles Talent Academy .
Townsend had her first film role in the comedy Maggie Moore from 2000. In the comedy Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) by Miranda July , which received numerous awards and nominations - including the Cannes International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival - received, she played one of the bigger roles. As a member of the acting ensemble, she received the Chlotrudis Award in 2006 . She took the lead role in the drama Lockdown (2006), which won second place at the BestFest America Student Film Festival in 2007 .
In the comedy Tru Loved (2008), Townsend played the lead role of the teenager Tru, who is raised by two lesbian mothers. This role earned her two awards for Best Actress at the Breckenridge Festival of Film and the Santa Cruz Film Festival in 2008 .
